Vijay talked openly about the ruling party in an interview to leading Tamil weekly Ananda Vikatan. In what could be a pleasant surprise to his fans, Vijay is quoted as saying, “One has no right to say that only he can pull crackers in Diwali or only he can taste sugarcane in Pongal. Everyone has the right to do so and hence, it is not justified to say that only a few films can release during festivals.”
“The setbacks imposed upon people like Mahatma Gandhi, MGR and Jayalalitha by others had made them historical figures. I had to face similar episodes while releasing Kaavalan and earlier when I was not allowed to show up on stage for a meeting arranged by my fan club. The Police blocked my appearance on stage citing security reasons but finally told me that I couldn’t appear on stage at all.”
“It was then that I came to know that someone tried to seriously harm my progress. I wonder if all these incidents will make me enter politics,” said Vijay in the interview which is currently available in Ananda Vikatan weekly magazine.
Vijay kept silence for about two weeks since he wanted to ensure that all his distributors who offered timely help to release the film got their dues. He did not want to invite trouble soon after release by speaking out since distributors and theater owners will have to incur loss.
Vijay definitely wins (hearts) and it his travails that have made him more matured. He is now a superstar and who knows what he can become later!
