Pagalavan (பகலவன்) or Pakalavan is a movie scheduled for Deepavali 2011, is an action/social revolutionary movie starring IlayaThalabathy Vijay and directed by Seeman. The movie discussion has begun and shooting begins in February 2011.

Pagalavan (Vijay) is a young kid who grows up without a father because he is sent to jail as an active political member. He is brought up by his poor mother (Saranya) who works as a servant in many houses to send her son to corporation school. [©vijaysfan.com]Pagalavan gets an M.B.B.S seat through merit and goes to Chennai. In Chennai, he is made fun of because of his tamil name Pagalavan, while the Chennai natives have modern names like Akash and Sanjay. He realizes that having a tamil name is bad, and speaking in Tamil is also made fun of. In college, nobody talks to him and his friends prefer watching Hindi movies instead of Tamil movies.
Pagalavan finishes M.B.B.S and goes to the U.S to study his M.D. However, after finishing M.D he returns to Tamil Nadu to serve the Tamil people. He joins the Indian Government Medical Service, and is sent to Delhi.
Pagalavan goes to Delhi, where he hears "Madarasi" , Kaala (Dark South Indian), Tamil Coolie" , etc . He is called by every other name and realizes that North Indians do not think of him as an Indian, just as a second class citizen. Even in the hospital, the nurses and other helpers do not treat him with respect, because he is a Tamilian. While helping the poor people, he meets an innocent Tamil girl Poongodi (Priya Mani) and she falls in love with him.
He is finally transferred to Rameswaram (Tamil Nadu), but when he tries to save a dying Tamil fisherman, he is accused of being a Tamil Terrorist and is arrested. While in Jail, he meets a 65 year old man, who has spent more than 30 years in jail for morally supporting tamils in Ceylon. He dies in Pagalavan's lap, and then Vijay realizes that he is none other than his own Father. This motivates him to make Tamils understand their own race, and the superiority of Tamil language.
He is fiercely met with violence by political party. His mother is killed and his best friend (Vadivelu) gets shot and is permanently handicapped. Pagalavan understands the limitations of speech and takes up arms and unites tamil
