In a surprise development, veteran director Maniratnam today met and signed an agreement with Mastero Ilayaraja & AR Rahman for the music composition of his upcoming film – Ponniyin Selvan. Ilayaraja who is well known for his background music is taking care of the BG score of the film while Rahman who’s forte is songs, will compose all the 5 songs for the film.
Interestingly this is Maniratnam’s 21st film and Ilayaraja has composed music for his first 10 films while AR Rahman composed the music for the rest ten and almost 99% of the songs in all 20 movies were super duper hit. Maniratnam has always been very particular about the music and this time he wants to go extra mile by signing up the two top most music directors of Indian cinema for this big budget film produced by Sun Pictures.
“Working with other music director is not new for Ilayaraja as he has earlier worked with another legend MS Viswanathan (Mella Thiranthathu Kathavu & Senthamizh Paattu) but coming together with Rahman was completely unexpected. All the credit goes to Maniratnam” said Sangeetha, an ardant fan for Ilayaraja and AR Rahman.
