Mani Ratnam to bring Ponniyin Selvan to celluloid

The historical classic epic Ponniyin Selvan will soon be converted into celluloid.. 

Ponniyin Selvan, a 20th century, Tamil historical novel is a romantic story, which deals with real historical characters and incidents and with the fortunes of the culturally rich Chola Empire during the 10th century. 

Many legendary artists have been fascinated by this epic and had the idea of converting this classic into celluloid.. Director Mani Ratnam who is also one of them, will soon nurture this dream.. 

Sources say, the ace filmmaker has completed the groundwork and is all set to launch this Magnum Opus. The director after working meticulously on the novel has etched a neat script, encompassing all the five volumes of the novel in just eighty scenes.  

Now who is going to don the lead role in this classic will be a big question.. The director had already initiated talks with Ilaya Thalapathy Vijayand if all goes well, he will be enacting the role ofVandhiyadevan..

For another lead role, Tollywood hottie Mahesh Babuwill be doing it.. 

And finally actor Arya will also be likely in the project..It seems has been approached by Mani to portray another of the historical characters, says the source..
